High on an imposing granite cliff in the heart of the remote Tarangire National Park, the camp is nestled in the picturesque African landscape. From here, views sweep across the vast savannah, glistening Lake Manyara and the majestic Rift Valley, while on the horizon, the volcanoes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area - including the Ngorongoro Crater, Oldeani and Lemagrut - provide a breathtaking backdrop.
Maweninga Camp was built with the utmost respect for nature and meets the highest environmental standards. Thanks to its sustainable construction and use of renewable energy, it has a minimal carbon footprint.
The 16 safari tents, built on raised wooden platforms, combine comfort with an authentic bush experience. Each tent has an open deck that invites you to enjoy the unparalleled views. Facilities include a cozy bedroom, dressing area and modern en-suite bathroom with flush toilet, washbasin and shower with 24-hour hot water. Electricity and hot water are provided by innovative solar systems, while up to 50% of the water needs are met by rainwater harvesting - the rest comes from a nearby borehole.
The heart of the camp is the inviting restaurant and bar, both built on wooden planks and covered by a traditional Makuti roof. Adjacent to the bar is a large rock terrace where you can enjoy a refreshing drink while watching the sun set over the bush.
After dinner, relax in a deck chair by the crackling campfire and listen to the stories of the Maasai as the magic of the night unfolds under the twinkling African stars. Dinner in our small, charming restaurant overlooking the bush completes this unforgettable experience.
Perched on the top of an imposing granite rock, this camp has the privilege of being within the Tarangire National Park, overlooking Lake Manyara and Burunge. Tarangire is considered as one of the most beautiful shelter of the Tanzanian fauna. Its numerous herds of elephants as well as its huge baobab trees have established Tarangire's reputation. Spreaded over 2 850 km², the average altitude of the park reaches 1 100 m high. It also gets its reputation due to the large number of wild animals, hard to find in others parks, one can observe: in particular Gerenuk, lesser and greater Kudu, Oryx and Eland.
