Departure from Düsseldorf with Air Berlin to Heraklion. Transfer to hotel in Georgioupolis. We live in the 4 **** Hotel Corissia Princess. The small, comfortable complex is only separated by a promenade from the long sandy beach. Before the dinner official welcome and introduction of the hiking and cultural program.

The first hike starts from the hotel to the interior of the Drápano peninsula to the picturesque villages. It takes us from village to village from the coast to the charming interior. The peninsula presents itself as a gently hilly cultivated landscape with olive groves, and wine fields, interspersed with cypresses and stone forests. We visit the village women's cooperative of Gavalochori. In the afternoon bathing is in the sea! For the sunset, a yoga teacher is waiting for us on the beach and we say goodbye to a yoga session.

Today's hike takes us from the hotel along the beach to Kavros. From there we hike through olive groves to Lake Kournas, which with its many blue tones is located in the picturesque mountains. We stop for lunch at the hotel, before returning to Georgiopoulis. Leisure on the beach. In the late afternoon we take the bus to Rethymnon. A tour of the town with its narrow streets and its vast Venetian Fortezza fortress. Minarets and mosques from the Turkish period and Venetian architecture characterize the cityscape. We have the opportunity to have a dinner together in one of the idyllic tavernas in the streets of Rethymnon, before returning to the hotel in the late evening.

Short bus transfer to the Akrotiri peninsula. We first visit the Monastery of Agia Triada, one of the most important monasteries of Crete, next to the monastery Gourveneto, built in the style of the Cretan Renaissance. Our hike starts at the Gouverneto monastery and leads us to the Bärenhöhle and then to the ruined monastery Katholikon. Here we descend through a small gorge where we reach the sea. Back to the Gouverneto Monastery we take the same route. Here is the bus waiting for us to take us to Chania. The city has its own charm through the Turkish-Venetian districts with their narrow, car-free streets, winding alleys and historic facades. We visit the Old Town district of Evraiki and Topanas, east of the city wall, and many restaurants, cafes and bars can be found in the neighborhoods of the Venetian port. At the end of the harbor you can enjoy a magnificent view over the harbor and the old houses facades to the White Mountains at the old lighthouse. The bus brings us back to the hotel.

A real highlight of Crete is the Palace of Knossos. Only 5 km from Heraklion, the temple complex is located on a hill overlooking the Cretan countryside full of olive trees. First, we explore the 4,000-year-old, legendary palace complex of King Minos in Knossos. Knossos is the largest of the palace complexes in Crete and was discovered by the Englishman Sir Arthur Evans at the beginning of the 20th century. There are unique temple and palace remains with reconstructed, magnificent murals. In the afternoon we will visit Heraklion with its archaeological museum and the ancient port, before we return on the coast to Georgioupolis.

Today we cross the gorge of the "Holy Irene", which is one of the greenest canyons of Crete. This very diversified hike begins on the high plateau in Agia Irini. The ancient calderimi (connecting paths) lead us from the vast mountain landscape into the ravine to the south coast to Sougia. Here is the bus that takes us back to Georgiopoulis.

We start the day with a sporty yoga session on the beach, before we head for the Drapano High Plane. In an old restored oil mill, we will learn more about the Cretan cuisine. Together with a well-known Cretan cookbook, we will cook typical dishes for the region and learn more about the philosophy, history and preparation of healthy Cretan cuisine. Our culinary creations will of course be eaten with wine, water and Raki in the authentic atmosphere of the old oil mill.

Today is to say goodbye! In the morning transfer from the hotel to the airport of Heraklion. Return with Air Berlin to Düsseldorf.
