8-day hut hike - "" Leave the paths and immerse yourself in nature and silence, walk slowly, far away from your daily worries, and discover the treasures of our mountains. "

"The Dolomites are the most beautiful building in the world" agree architect Le Corbusier and Reinhold Messner.

The Dolomites - part of the Alps. Drei Zinnen, Sella, Latemar, Tofana, Seiser Alm, Kronplatz, Karersee ... famous names of fantastic places. No region in the Alps is so much influenced by moods and myths as the region of the gray granite giants. And King Laurin's rose garden is just one of the enchanted places in this incredibly beautiful mountain world.

Our hike through Laurin's "Rosengarten" finds its spectacular continuation in the hut hike 2020.

"Very close to the clouds ..." is much more than a location. It is an expression of space, of the longing for freedom, the desire for silence, connection with nature! Anyone who has been up here in the mountains will come again, must come again. "Very close to the clouds ..."

"The Dolomites are the most beautiful building in the world". Right!

The DOLOMITES ... have a look ....

Day 01 | Individual arrival - arrival in DobbiacoJuly 19

Arrival journey by your own until 5:00 p.m. Check-in at the hotel. We meet at 6:00 p.m. for our little welcome. We will have dinner together tonight in the hotel restaurant.

The municipality of Toblach is located in the eastern part (Alta Pusteria) of the Puster Valley / South Tyrol and extends from 1,182 to 3,146 m asl. The “gateway to the Dolomites” borders on the Drei Zinnen in the Sesto Dolomites and Fanes-Sennes-Braies and, with the Toblacher See and the Dürrensee, contains two significant water levels. Dobbiaco not only includes old and new Dobbiaco, but also the villages of Aufkirchen, Wahlen and the Silvestertal.

Gustav Mahler already appreciated the beauty of the community, he stayed here in the summer months from 1908 to 1910 and owned his own composing house. The Gustav Mahler Music Weeks still commemorate the great composer today.

Day 02 | Dobbiaco - Three Peaks - DobbiacoJuly 20
1st hiking day
  • Dürrensee: walking time approx. 5:30 am, approx. 15km | Elevation gain ↑ 1014 m / ↓ 1062 m
  • or Bülejoch: walking time about 6: 45h, about 18km | Altitude difference ↑ 1204 m / ↓ 1204 m

NOTE: Round trip, in the evening it goes back to the hotel. The daypack is sufficient. But don't forget: rainwear / umbrella! (depending on the forecast) Your other items remain in the hotel.

The Three Peaks (Italian Tre Crime di Lavaredo)! Who hasn't seen the pictures of these famous towering rock towers? They are the striking mountain range in the Sexten Dolomites on the border between the Italian provinces of Belluno in the south and South Tyrol in the north.

The highest elevation of the group is the 2999m high Große Zinne (Italian Cima Grande). It stands between the other two peaks, the Western Pinnacle (Cima Ovest, 2973 m) and the Little Pinnacle (Cima Piccola, 2857 m). In addition to these striking rock towers, there are several other summit points to the massif, including the Punta di Frida (2792 m) and the Preußturm, and the smallest pinnacles (Torre Preuß, Cima Piccolissima, 2700 m).

We will go to Fischleintal this morning in Sesto. Enjoy the ride, we already have spectacular views - Zwölferkogel, framed by its namesakes Einser- and Elferkogel.

From the Fischleinbodenhütte (1,454m) we turn west and climb over the Altenstein valley, with a view of the larches, up to the Bödensee with its woolen grass carpet. From there it is only a stone's throw to the Drei Zinnen hut, 2,465m, where we can rest / strengthen after about 3 hours. There we will decide whether we should descend to Dürrensee 1,403m and then take the regular bus back to Toblach, or go east, slightly ascending in 1 h to Büllelejochhütte 2,528m and via the Zsigmondy hut 2,224m down the steeper but shady path to the parking lot / starting point choose.

But no matter which tour it will be, we can expect spectacular views, a good 1100 m elevation gain and - unfortunately - we will not be on our own either. Because the UNESCO_ World Heritage is surely one of the most visited region in the Alps! And yet - it's worth it! Return to Dobbiaco to the hotel.B/B

Day 03 | Transfer Pragser Wildsee - Senneshütte - optional ascent to SeekofelJuly 21
2nd hiking day
  • Walking time without peak 3: 50h, approx. 8.5km | Meters of altitude ↑ 955 m / ↓ 301 m
  • Walking time with climbing the summit 5: 45h | Elevation gain ↑ 1,375 m / ↓ 724 m

Here we go! The day yesterday was a highlight! And yet we are drawn to less crowded regions. And we're leaving today - "Let's go!"

With the regular bus we drive to the Pragser Wildsee 1.534m. Already on the way there we see our today's destination the Seekofel (2.810m) which is reflected in the lake. We walk halfway around the lake and then climb over a rubble band and mountain pines over a rocky uphill in steep bends up to the east side of the Seekofel. There we turn to the right to the furnace niche 2,388m. On the way, we will pass a rope-insured point before we cross the leafy rock formation on the meandering, narrow path and reach the gap in about 2: 45h. We already have a great view here. We can deposit a part of our luggage in the Seekofelhütte 2,327m, where we can stop before we start to climb a bit steeper, with cable insurance, in about 1:15 hrs / up to the Seekofel, around the Braies Lake from above and the Zillertal Alps in the To see north. If we are back at the hut after about 2:30 a.m., we still need about 50 minutes. to reach our accommodation, the Senneshütte 2.125m, via alpine meadows. Sennessee of the same name lies in front of the hut. B / B

Day 04 | Senneshütte - Pederü - FaneshütteJuly 22
3rd hiking day
  • 3: 45h, | Elevation ↑ 740 m / ↓ 895 m

We hike southwards from the Senne hut before descending in steeper switchbacks to the valley, to the Gasthof Pederü 1,548m. There we can have our luggage transported upwards by jeep. We hike on a somewhat gravelly path, between mountain pines, up to the Faneshütte 2,062m. B / B

Day 05 | Faneshütte - Ascent Heiligkreuzkofel (2.907m) - FaneshütteJuly 23
4th hiking day

NOTE: Round trip, in the evening it goes back to the Faneshütte. The daypack is sufficient. But don't forget: rainwear / umbrella!

  • 5: 30h, approx. 13.5km | Elevation ↑ 944 / ↓ 944 m

We hike with the sun and light luggage to the west to the Lavarella hut and further to the Kreuzkofelscharte 2.612m. On the way we pass beautiful limestone formations. From the yoke there are still approx. 300 HM / 50 min. to the Heiligkreuzkofel 2.907m. For the way back we are looking for our own way cross-country to our accommodation, with a short break at the Lavarella hut (sauna is unfortunately only for hut guests). B / B

Day 06 | Faneshütte - LagazuoihütteJuly 24
5th hiking day

Today it goes south, without a stop, temporarily on a cart path between the alpine meadows through the Fanestal. Later, after overcoming a steep block and scree channel and crossing the stone desert, we will be happy about the unique, magnificent view from the Lagazuoi hut 2.752m. Up here in this stone landscape you can see as far as the rose garden and the Marmolada is right in front of you. On request, we can make a detour to Lago di Lagazoi on the way. On the Lagazuoi plateau there are still many remains from the First World War to be seen. B/B

Day 07 | Lagazuoi Hut - Falzarego Pass - Cortina d'Ampezzo - Misurina Lake - DobbiacoJuly 25
6th hiking day

After a leisurely breakfast with a panoramic view, head east to the Falzaregopass 2,105m. There we may be able to take a few pine cones home with us as a souvenir so that we can prepare healthy pine schnapps (good for the stomach) that will remind us of the wonderful week in the Dolomites and summer 2020.

We take the bus to the east, through Cortina d’Ampezzo, on the south side of the Cristallo massif to Lake Misurina. Who wants to hike around or prefer to eat a good pizza? With a last look at the south side of the Drei Zinnen it goes over the Dürrensee back to Dobbiaco.

In the evening we have dinner together in the hotel and plenty of time for lots of memories ...! B/B

Day 08 | Dobbiaco - Individual journey homeJuly 26

The night was short, the head is ... This is probably called "hangover breakfast"! But don't worry, we are well armed against that too, according to experience ...!

After an extensive and hearty breakfast it is time to say goodbye, ... of course after the obligatory group photo! Individual journey home.
