Itinerary

Individual flight to Kilimanjaro/Tanzania.

Arrival in Kilimanjaro and transfer to Moshi to the hotel . Hotel-stay (D)

After breakfast we drive to Londorossi gate and get there the permit. After registering, we continue to Lemosho Forest (2,100 m), here we expect the escort team.

Leisurely we climb up through the rainforest. The still wide path will soon become a path. We cross several streams; maybe we can espy Colobus monkeys in the dense foliage.

At the end of the first day we deserved a delicious dinner and a little rest. The tents were already set up for us and hot tea awaits us at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,795 m) . Mti Mkubwa is the Swahili word for large trees. ↑ 695 m Walking time: approx. 4 hours. Tent overnight ( BLD )

Through the dense mountain forest, we soon arrive in high moorlands with heather. A little further and the growth of Senecias and lobelia begins; the Senecias are up to 9 meters high.

Our gaze sweeps repeatedly over towards Mt. Meru. For the first time one or the other of us can feel the amount. We cross the Shira ridge at 3,600 m and then descend to Shira Camp I , which is located on 3,450 meters above sea level next to a river . ↑ 805 ↓ 150 Hm Hm Walking time: approx. 5 hours Tent (BLD)

We climb further uphill, the slope today is not so great. The path continues through the high moorlands, past the edges of the Shira crater. We will stay overnight at the Shira Camp II ( 3750 m ) . ↑ 300 m Walking time: approx. 4 hours Tent (BLD)

Today's stage is a liitle bit longer. We walk first along the plateau and rise to Shira Hut at 3,880 m. Shortly before the Shark Tooth, a very distinctive rock, we have our lunch break and then turn left in the direction of the Lawa Tower .

Next we go on to Moir Hut (4,250 m). Once there 's still worth a short further rise to a small viewpoint: we have a great view of the Amboseli basin . ↑ 500 m Walking time : approx. 5 hours Tent (BLD)

We walk on a lava - sandy path past large lava rocks up to the base of the Lava Tower (4600m). Here we turn and go downhill south to Barranco Hut (3,965 m). The camp near the hut is in lush vegetation, here we propose the tents. ↑ 720 ↓ 635 Hm Hm . Walking time: about 5 to 7 hours Tent (BLD)

This day is very good for our acclimatization: we go to a large rock overhang and rising slightly uphill through lava fields. When we reach this passage, the path leads slightly downhill, through moor and large tufts of grass; repeatedly up and down over sand, gravel, through parched streams to Kaanga Valley and finally to the same camp (3,960 m). Here we have a perfect view of the ice walls of the ceiling and Rebmanngletschers. ↑ 100 ↓ 100 Hm Hm Walking time: approx. 4 hours Tent (BLD)

We meet the Mweka route on which we descend, after the peak experience, later to the valley.

But first we want to reach the top! Finally Over stony ground and through a lava field we reach the Barafu Hut (4.540 m). The shacks are located in a boulder field, here we prepare for our summit attempt before . ↑ 580 m Walking time: approx. 4 hours tent or dormitory hut ( BLD )

Middle of the night we leave, the path is steep and sandy; the sand is frozen during the night, so that we can go well here. After about 4 hours we reach the crater rim at Stella Point (4.745 m) and proceed to Uhuru Peak (5.895 m ) . The peak is reached - Congratulations!

Here we make, depending on weather, a short break, enjoy the sunrise and the view. We take a break at Barafu Hut; already here some crewmembers are waiting with a warm meal We continue to grow from the Millenium Camp at 3,800 meters above sea level, where we sleep in tents and recover from the stresses of the day somewhat . ↑ ↓ 1355 Hm 2095 Hm Walking time: approx. 12 to 14 hours Tent (BLD)

In a broad way, we walk through the rainforest down to Mweka Gate (1,800 m). At the gate we are already expected and make our lunch break here. Upon receipt of the awaited and deserved Summit Certificate we go to the hotel. Here we enjoy the amenities of the hotel: a warm shower, a cold beer and a lounger by the pool.
